Name:
Kate Ryan

Occupation/Business/Creative Outlet:
Director at aliangé Skincare - with my mother Dr Alison Jamieson who formulated and founded the company. I studied nursing and am a registered nurse. I enjoyed all spectrums of my nursing work and thoroughly enjoyed time in Pediatrics, ICU and Cardiology.
Integrative approach to health or biobalance is my health focus now I like the interplay between western and eastern medicine with a sound basis in nutrition and emotional health to create vitality and well being. Currently my creative outlet is expressed through product development with aliangé, such as creating masques and content surrounding this. I also like to spend my time looking at interior design sources and all things related.

Starsign: Gemini

Favourite Number: 33 - my birth number (Numerology)

First thing you did this morning? Made some coffee and then got straight into work as this is when I’m the most focused and feel the most creative. I’m in Sydney right now by the ocean so I think I will go for a swim.

What does 'wellness' mean to you?
Wellness to me is a holistic approach. For me the mind plays a big part in wellness. I try to be conscious of my consumption of all things synthetic, materialistic and excessive. I try to consume things that make me feel well and healthy, by doing this I feel it sends a message of self love.

Products found in your shower/by your bath? aliangé Daily Devotion Cleanser & Transforming Exfoliator. I also use epsom salts weekly for a nice magnesium top up to relax. I prefer this to taking it orally as I find it a more gentle approach. I also love to burn Incausa incense.

Three things that can always be found in your kitchen cupboard? Adaptogenic herbs! Right now I am using Let Go Herbs an Australian made product that is owned by my friend who sources super high quality herbs.
I enjoy making Tonics but currently using Dragon Herbs 8 Immortals Drops which is "Super potent hydro-ethanolic extraction, made with supreme quality herbs, immune townifying, spirit lifting, mind strengthening, ultimate adaptogen, Supports optimal stress response”. I also love Living Libation Lemon Essential Oil for detoxifying.

Favourite kitchen utensil? I usually end up opting for smoothies & making wholesome salads that usually are based off the Mediterranean diet. The tool I use the most is the Hinoki Knife. A really good friend created these with a family of Japanese master blade smiths and gifted me one, and it’s my most cherished companion in the kitchen. It cuts like nothing else.
My stainless steel straw to help reduce plastic waste. I am trying to be conscious of being more environmentally friendly. It also reminds me this year I want to ensure that my business practice does as much as possible to support environmentally sustainable and nurturing components!

Favourite Travel destination? Always changing but I love Europe. Greece holds a special place in my heart. I love the island Halki specifically for sentimental reasons being time spent there with my family. I also love the South of France post a recent trip there.. Grasse was a highlight for me as I loved exploring the perfumeries and learning about the history of scents & fragrances. Aix-en-Provence for exploring artistic heritage and then venturing to the Calanques of Cassis.

Currently reading? The Telomere Effect.
"THE TELOMERE EFFECT reveals how Blackburn and Epel's findings, together with research from colleagues around the world, cumulatively show that sleep quality, exercise, aspects of diet, and even certain chemicals profoundly affect our telomeres, and that chronic stress, negative thoughts, strained relationships, and even the wrong neighborhoods can eat away at them. Drawing from this scientific body of knowledge, they share lists of foods and suggest amounts and types of exercise that are healthy for our telomeres, mind tricks you can use to protect yourself from stress, and information about how to protect your children against developing shorter telomeres, from pregnancy through adolescence. And they describe how we can improve our health spans at the community level, with neighborhoods characterized by trust, green spaces, and safe streets.”

One thing you'd like to incorporate into your day/week that you're currently yet to? Utilising my nursing skills with the goal to work with https://www.interplast.org.au/

Nighttime rituals? Calming activities. Exercising. Reading. Consuming a nourishing dinner / calming tea

I feel most creatively fulfilled when…

At home in my cottage. This is when my creativity really flows. Energetically I find cities to be consuming so I like to spend a lot of time in nature.

I'm currently working on…
Creating more face masques and other projects with aliangé that will soon be announced.

This time last year, I wish I knew…
- Practice self care rituals more
- The more I learn the less I know
- The saturated social media world we live in is highly two dimensional  & 'cool' is subjective

I'm grateful for…
My family who support and encourage me. Being surrounded by nature and animals which keep me grounded and positive
